Netflix Will Stream ‘Bill Nye’ And A New Louis C.K. Stand Up Special In April

Each month Netflix expands their video library with new TV shows and movies. Here is everything from original series, to classic TV shows, to family flicks you and the kids should be watching this month.

Spring is finally here. And Netflix has a crop of new series to keep your kids occupied during those rained out afternoons. This month, Louis C.K. has a new stand-up specials, Mystery Science Theaters gets an upgrade, and Bill Nye makes his return for a new generation.

For You

Mystery Science Theater 3000: The Return

On April 14, there are going to be a lot of happy nerds. MST3K returns with a new cast (including Patton Oswalt), the same robots and somehow, a new wealth of terrible movies to be riffed and eviscerated. The premise remains the same, but really this means you get a season of new quips to quote with your nerdy dad pals.

Louis C.K. 2017 Stand-Up Special

Although there’s no official trailer yet, Netflix will stream their first of two unnamed Louis C.K. comedy specials starting April 4. Louis joins in on a growing list of exclusive stand-up specials new to the streaming service, including Dave Chappelle, Jerry Seinfeld, and others. That means you’ll spend most of April laughing into a pillow like a fool so you don’t wake the kids.

For Kids

Kubo and the Two Strings

If your kid hasn’t been able to watch the film that received Oscar nominations for Best Animated Feature and Best Visual Effects, then junior’s in for a treat on April 8. Kubo is a boy who goes on a quest for a magical suit of armor worn by his late father in order to defeat a vengeful spirit from the past. It’s worth watching simply for the film’s incredible stop-motion animation.

Bill Nye Saves The World

Science is fun again! Bill Nye The Science Guy inspired an entire generation of kids. Now, as an adult, you can share the joy with your kid as Bill comes out of retirement to save the world one scientific method at a one. On April 21, you can see Bill conduct all-new experiments, but this time it’ll be in an edgy talk show-like format with celebrity guests. So it’ll feel like Top Gear, but filled with actual useful information. (Just maybe preview that “sex” episode first, in case you’re not ready for an awkward talk.)
