Proving My Love to My Family [Video]

What is the true value of family? To me, it’s priceless. I realized I had to put my time and money where my mouth was, and start investing my assets back into the places and people who shaped me into the man I am today. That’s why we decided to take this road trip, to spend our most precious resource, our time, with family and friends across the country, as well as each other. Multigenerational living is something I was brought up with, but that my kids haven’t had too much experience with. They definitely learned about it during our month away, and they also learned the importance of family. Join us in this vlog as we journey to White Sands National Park, New Mexico, for our latest adventure!

okay
00:10
hello hello hello look at me i’ve been
00:12
fresh i’ve been walking with my savior
00:14
yes i’m trying to do my best guess i’m
00:15
just a bag of bombs trying to shake up
00:17
by the flesh when you see me never
00:19
stress when you see me see me see me you
00:21
say hello hello
00:24
[Music]
00:25
you know something i realized we started
00:27
going on this rv trip and i never told
00:29
you why
00:30
of course we want to spend time with the
00:31
family and set out time to go on
00:33
adventures but it all started with him
00:36
see this right here is my grandfather
00:39
david lindsay henry him and i were very
00:41
close two years ago i found out he had
00:44
only a few days to live so i dropped
00:46
everything and flew back to baltimore
00:49
to visit with him
00:50
the first thing that my grandfather says
00:52
to me is
00:53
where are your kids
00:55
see he wanted to see his great-grandkids
00:57
before he passed away anaya and uzi he
01:00
hadn’t even met
01:01
see i couldn’t afford the ticket to be
01:03
able to bring us all out there and i
01:06
thought me being there was good enough
01:08
but for my grandfather to ask to see his
01:10
great-grandchildren on his deathbed
01:12
i feel like that’s a reasonable ask and
01:14
i should have been able to afford that
01:16
no matter what the cost see i’ve made
01:18
this trip before
01:20
i’ve traveled across the country to do
01:21
music and to do shows to entertain
01:24
people that i’ve never even met i’ve
01:26
slept on floors
01:27
missed meals and went to great lengths
01:29
to show off my rapping ability
01:32
surely i can make the same sacrifice
01:34
to see the people who help me become who
01:36
i am
01:37
and if i really believe that family is
01:39
foundation
01:40
it can’t just be represented in the
01:42
clothes i wear or the stories we tell
01:45
it has to show up in how we spend our
01:46
time
01:47
and who we spend it with that
01:49
conversation and that experience lit a
01:51
fire under me because a lot of people
01:53
ask me how much did it cost to take this
01:55
trip
01:56
but not many people understand how much
01:58
it’s worth
02:01
okay
02:06
[Music]
02:16
so how it works as i drive through the
02:18
night we get to our campsite by the
02:19
morning yvette wakes up makes an amazing
02:22
breakfast we co-parent till about lunch
02:24
time and after that uzi and i are spent
02:26
ready to take a nap and the kids go to
02:28
the pool
02:30
huh
02:32
yeah yeah yeah
02:34
[Music]
02:48
i thought i was amazing i thought i was
02:50
amazing so we’re getting our little
02:52
system down the kids go to the pool i
02:54
take a nap and then we do some type of
02:56
family activity today we are going to
02:59
275 square miles of white sand dunes
03:02
also called white sands national park
03:05
and we’ve been here before but we’ve
03:07
never been at sunset and we’ve never
03:09
been with uzi
03:12
goodness gracious
03:17
okay
03:19
[Music]
03:21
all right here we go
03:28
[Music]
03:46
[Music]
03:53
whoa
03:54
man
03:55
[Music]
03:56
go go go go go go go go go
03:59
[Music]
04:05
i see you baby
04:09
that was awesome
04:11
pleasure around you
04:14
do you stink
04:16
do i stink
04:19
[Music]
04:25
is it sugar or sound
04:28
no
04:30
i have to know first
04:32
i don’t know this is a scientific
04:33
science experiment
04:35
tell me
04:37
well i think it’s only one way to find
04:38
out
04:39
uh
04:46
we’re not done
04:49
no i’m gonna sweat
04:54
[Music]
05:07
i don’t know how it hurts
05:15
what
05:17
[Music]
05:28
are you ready yeah okay
05:30
i don’t know if i am
05:32
okay ready yeah set
05:35
yep
05:38
[Music]
05:55
okay
06:00
[Music]
06:04
what happened raya
06:09
[Music]
06:18
i think this part of the episode is
06:20
really important because you guys have
06:22
already seen me wash the kids feet for
06:24
connection but usually we just have to
06:26
wash their feet just for cleanliness and
06:28
stuff like that and i think something
06:30
that’s kind of misrepresented here is
06:31
the amount of work that i’m putting in
06:33
versus what’s happening with yvette
06:35
inside see i have to wash the kids feet
06:38
just to get them inside of the rv she
06:40
then has to bathe them and get them to
06:43
brush their teeth put on pajamas all the
06:45
things though this channel really does
06:47
highlight and celebrate fatherhood in a
06:49
major way i don’t want to lessen what
06:51
yvette is experiencing because i’m not
06:53
showing it it’s best that i put in time
06:55
and help out where i can
06:57
and filming it possible but it’s mostly
06:59
about being a present father and a
07:01
present husband over being a content
07:03
creator
07:04
we are here in white sands national park
07:08
um
07:09
i didn’t realize
07:11
how much patience i needed
07:14
uh i definitely feel like there is a
07:20
another level to like
07:23
my patients
07:25
that i have not hit yet
07:28
being in tight quarters with the kids
07:30
has like really
07:33
challenged me
07:34
any bit
07:35
even being in thai quarters with you
07:37
that
07:37
i do feel like
07:40
you’ve got not a really really good
07:42
solid team
07:43
i mean i’ve always known that but
07:46
just even like the first few days
07:48
being on this rv
07:50
has taught me that you know we’re really
07:52
we’re a really good team
07:54
we can work together
07:56
well but it’s only like
07:59
day four
08:01
so
08:03
there’s a lot for us to learn and
08:06
understand and grow through
08:10
but yeah i am very very very fortunate
08:13
man this life is
08:16
it’s amazing you know
08:18
we haven’t even started
08:19
uh the true mission which is
08:23
you know
08:25
me being able to see
08:27
some of the
08:28
the grandparents and the aunts and
08:30
uncles
08:32
i’m at this age where
08:34
people are getting sick they’re not
08:35
doing well some people are passing away
08:37
and we’re missing we’re missing people
08:40
we’re missing
08:41
opportunity we’re missing friendships
08:44
and so i don’t want to miss that okay so
08:46
um i have to interrupt and just
08:49
kind of communicate
08:51
that though i am
08:53
experiencing all these feelings in this
08:56
video and knowing that dang we’ve been
08:58
losing a lot of people let’s go see
09:00
everybody that we can especially all the
09:02
older people because they’re most likely
09:03
to get sick you know what i’m saying
09:06
um
09:08
i didn’t really understand how bad my
09:11
sister was doing at this time and so i’m
09:13
making i’m continuing to put out this
09:15
content because you know
09:17
we already experienced it and so we’re
09:18
editing it now we’re putting it out but
09:21
realizing too that i have to
09:24
i had to come home and deal with it like
09:26
a loss that i was not ready for
09:29
uh and so
09:32
uh i just wanted to kind of say that i’m
09:34
not trying to avoid that conversation
09:36
i’m just not ready to have it and so in
09:38
due time you know we’ll talk about it
09:40
but not right now so uh we’re gonna
09:43
finish through the road trip and uh all
09:45
that and then uh
09:47
we’ll figure out where we’re at when we
09:49
get back
09:50
i don’t want my children not to meet the
09:52
people who made me who i am
09:55

09:59
