St. Patrick’s Day Calendar Numbers

Calendar numbers are a fantastic way for kids to practice one-to-one correspondence, number identification, and even more math activities with your preschoolers.

Not only are they easy to prepare, there are many uses for them in your classroom. The small cards – especially when laminated – tend to make kids feel like they are playing a game. Indeed there are some math games you can use them for!

Materials to Use With St. Patrick’s Day Number Cards

The most straightforward approach to using these calendar cards is to simply print them out, cut them up, and go for it. Of course, if you want to make them last, I highly recommend laminating them. This will keep them safe from all the wear and tear, especially if you are planning on using them for more hands-on activities.

Here are a few of the supplies I tend to use most often with calendar number cards, and you may have all of these items on hand already!

How to Prep the St. Patrick’s Day Numbers

As I mentioned, if you’re short on time, or just plan to use these in your calendar pockets, you can print them out and cut them apart.

As is, the number cards are each about 3 inches square, so adjust the settings on your printer if you are looking for a different size.

I tend to laminate everything since I never know we will come up with a fun new way to use our printables. If you do laminate them, when you cut them apart you can cut the corners a little bit curved to make them user-friendly. Or use one of those handy-dandy corner rounders!

Using the Calendar Numbers in Preschool

Pop the St. Paddy’s calendar numbers right in your calendar pocket chart if you’ll be using them for a classroom calendar. Your kids will no doubt love all the festive kids dressed in green!

They can start practicing counting, putting them in numerical order, creating number patterns (grab different versions of my calendar number cards for this – like the winter calendar numbers.)

Here are some other ways that we like to use number cards, but don’t be afraid to experiment with something else that you think up.

  • Spend some time as a whole group, or in smaller groups, putting the cards in numerical order, and then arrange them in backwards order.
  • Use the calendar cards with manipulatives such as mini erasers or glass gems. Kids can place the appropriate number of items on each card to practice one-to-one correspondence.
  • Two sets of cards can be used to play Memory with your students, or use them in a number Bingo game.
  • Laminated calendar cards are perfect to hide in sensory bins and let the kids dig for them. Dye some rice green or make a special St. Patrick’s Day sensory bin.
