Lulu’s, Herne Hill

Thank the lord for the lengthening days, for lifting the spirits and lightening the mood and - most importantly from my point of view - dramatically improving the quality of food photography on this blog. I chose Mountains 2 Beach because I wanted a late spring half marathon that had a fast course. Last year I ran San Diego Rock n’ Roll half as my goal race and while I do...

The fossils resemble a curled-up snake, and for a while, people thought they were remains of snakes, earning them the nickname snakestones! Ammonites made extra chambers in their shell as they grew, which gave the shell a distinct spiral shape. How did ammonites swim? The hollow inner chambers of an ammonite’s shell helped them float and control their buoyancy. Ammonites had a siphuncle system which allowed them to diffuse gas in and out of the empty shell to change their buoyancy. Only the outermost...
