Zucchini Cheddar Bread

With zucchini season coming up, I thought it would be the perfect time to share this delicious zucchini cheddar bread recipe.  This is the best savory zucchini bread recipe you will be making on repeat and comes from Carla Hall’s Soul Food: Everyday and Celebration. Whenever I grow zucchinis in the garden, I feel like I always end up with a plethora of extra, so I’m always coming up with different ways to use them, if you’ve grown zucchini you know they take over a garden!! I love reading cookbooks and finding all sorts of new recipes to experiment with.  I shared some of my favorite cookbooks in the past, but I have a new one to add; Carla Hall’s...

Why does my body smell differently during this #stayhome period?

Confession: I started smelling like a mix of curry and rotten fish (sorry for putting that in your head!) during Circuit Breaker. TMI, I know, but it got so bad that I would reek even right out of the shower without lifting a finger. I started scrutinising what I was eating, drinking and even how much I was stressing about stuff. But the strange thing is, I didn’t eat or drink any differently than pre-Circuit Breaker days. Every single time I've desperately shopped online looking for something—anything, really—that will help them and myself get through this. After years of research and experimenting, these are the products I highly recommend for when your baby is going from all the gummy smiles to getting ready to chomp anything in sight.Bebe Au Lait wooden teetherThis teether will keep your baby entertained for hours. It's non-toxic, anti-microbial and the...

California tests at-home schooling

After weeks of uncertainty, it’s now obvious that the vast majority of California’s six million public school students will be staying, and presumably studying, at home this fall, rather than returning to the classrooms they hastily abandoned four months ago. After the nation’s second largest school system, Los Angeles Unified, and San Diego Unified jointly declared that they will continue with “distance learning” indefinitely, other local school districts, with very few exceptions, are falling in line. Los Angeles and San Diego officials cited the recent resurgence of COVID-19 cases and concerns about the health of students, teachers and other school workers in making their decisions, but pressure from politically powerful teacher unions was no small factor. The question, of course,...
