My house is about to have an awakening. In a few weeks, assuming we don’t totally botch our financing and all the red tape that goes along with home buying, we’ll be moving our lovingly packed belongings to a new house. As the organized one in my marriage, I’ve been packing (lightly-ish) for months already. There were periods of time during those months that I stopped, crushingly certain that we wouldn’t get a house I would love. I felt sure that, like so many times before this time in our lives, we would get the shit-end of the stick. I knew we could cope, but I was sad. I’m human. Then I pulled myself up by my bootstraps and quit...
I'm currently reading Bill Bryson's book, One Summer: America, 1927. The book is centered around significant events of that summer including Charles Lindbergh's crossing of the Atlantic. The physics of how an airplane gets airborne and stays airborne are still the same as they were 1927. A newly released video SciShow Kids uses excellent visuals to explain how an airplane flies today. The video uses both jet-powered airplanes and prop-powered airplanes to show the key concepts. Popular edibles brand Kiva Confections, in an "off the wall" experiment, launched a first-of-its-kind seasonal product back in 2019--a THC-spiked gravy to go with cannafans' Thanksgiving turkeys. The savory sauce not only lit up social media and the national press--late night's Stephen Colbert even did a segment--it sold out immediately. Granted, it was a limited...
Ready to see our November groceries and some of the meals we ate last month? Spoiler: We ate a turkey. Early in the month, I had a huge stock-up day in Lincoln at Sam’s and Costco. Why not just one or the other? Here are reasons I love both. :) I completely forgot to take a picture of my Sam’s groceries. :/ I got stocked up on grass-fed ground beef and a few other meat items, peanut butter, honey, chicken broth, tomato soup, mac and cheese, canned corn, cheese sticks, gogo squeeze applesauce, chips, brown sugar, ketchup, and cheese slices. Later in the day at Costco, I loaded up on boneless chicken thighs, fresh fruits and veggies, frozen veggies, sour...
